Films

The Courier (2020)

Not out yet but definitely worth keeping an eye out when it does come out. Starring Benedict Cumberbatch (great actor), the films tells the story of a British businessman who is recruited into one of the greatest international conflicts in history: the UK's MI-6 and a CIA operative form a dangerous partnership with a Soviet officer in an effort to provide crucial intelligence needed to prevent a nuclear confrontation and defuse the Cuban Missile Crisis. It’s gripping and best of all, based on true events.

Wonder (2017)

Incredibly endearing. This films tell the story of a young boy with facial differences that, up until now, have prevented him from going to a mainstream school. It’s not the typical tear-jerker but really gives you an insight into the difficulties of one family as they are try to grapple with their own life’s challenges and in the face of it, encounter the courage and help of this young boy.
Available on Netflix.

Penguin Bloom (2020)

A well crafted film on the life of one woman’s tragic accident and the struggles she faces as a result of her limitations. Her family are absolutely gorgeous, the acting is really good, there is some good funny moments in it. If you just want to watch a good uplifting movie with a bit of a kick, this is one worth watching.

Available on Netflix.

Les Miserable (2012)

Based on the French historical novel by Victor Hugo, first published in 1862, (considered one of the greatest novels of the 19th century) this musical film goes all out to create this atmosphere of povery, degradation and amidst of all this: hope. It is definitely worth watching if you haven’t done so already! A great cast with Russell Crowe, Hugh Jackman and Anne Hathaway. Each of which deliver a stellar performance in this musical. Available on Netflix.

Documentaries

7 Yards: the chris norton story (2021)

Absolutely inspiring documentary about Chris Norton. Chris suffered a debilitating spinal cord injury during a college football game. Doctors gave him just a 3 percent chance to ever move again. But he defied that diagnosis. This is a story of absolute love, family unity and perseverance. Bring the Kleenex! Available on Netflix.

Assasins (2020)

This is about the murder of the brother of North Korea’s Supreme Leader Kim Jon Un. It’s genuinelly fascinating how all of this was staged and the poor girls who got roped into the assasination. The documentary comes across as a detective story unravelling in front of your eyes. Fascinating!
Available on YouTube for Rent.
