Beloved 40 - Week 1

Inner Attentiveness to God

Before his gaze, all falsehood melts away. This encounter with Him transforms and frees us, allowing us to become truly ourselves.

To pray in the depths of your heart is easy but it’s also hard. As one famous spiritual writer said: “Prayer is a battle”. It’s the battle of distractions, dryness, fear, …

Lent is a wonderful opportunity to deepen your resolve to spend quality time with Our Lord.

Wherever you are you can speak with Jesus, but do try to find a peaceful place where you won’t be distracted. The Church is the best but if not your room, for example. The Introductory prayer (below) serves to tune in to Jesus; say it slowly, understanding what you are asking.

Then you can read a short text from the Bible or some Spiritual Reading. Ask yourself what Jesus wants to say to you in these words.

Jesus is going to tell you things in the interior of your soul. Let him speak to you.

At the end of your mental prayer, you can say the Closing prayer, again slowly and with attention, giving thanks to Our Lord for the good resolutions that inspired you.

We have also included resources for you to pray with linked below.

Introductory Prayer

My Lord and my God, I firmly believe that you are here; that you see me, that your hear me. I adore you with profound reverence; I ask you for pardon for my sins, and the grace to make this time of prayer fruitful. My Mother Immaculate, Saint Joseph my father and lord, my guardian angel, intercede for me.

Closing Prayer

I thank you, my God, for the good resolutions, affections and inspirations that you have communicated to me in this meditation. I ask you for help to put them into effect. My Mother Immaculate, Saint Joseph my father and lord, my guardian angel, intercede for me.
